O.k. I understand that J&SBSB opens on December 21st, And I really can't wait for it, but I can't help but feel that this is a bad time slot for a couple of reasons...

1. Its just before Christmas when a lot of people (well those who work in retail, anyway) find it hard to make time to do anything of an evening let alone make it to the flicks, this is made worse by the fact that a lot us work for those big faceless american corporations that expect their staff to stay late and help out...

2. Lord of the Rings opens on December 19th, now I know that J&SBSB is a good Alternative flick for when LOTR sells out, but it also throws up a couple of problems...

A. Most of the multiplexes judging from past experiences with big releases (Star Wars, Titanic, etc) will know that LOTR is the safe bet, therefore it takes priority and the four largest screens, that means that in most multiplexes J&SBSB will open on the medium sized screens and will be bumped down when the next major release appears, which will be 28th of december for "Ocean's Eleven", which means J&SBSB will get limited space for a limited period and thats gotta hurt the grosses...

B. The smaller "Town" cinemas won't be able to carry the flick, because they'll be full with LOTR, which means that places like my old home town of Leamington Spa will miss the flick completely and this is bad because Leam has a population of a couple of hundred thousand people and you have quite a following there (just ask Glen), its the only place where I have been stopped in the street based on the view askew T-shirts that I usually wear (hell I even got stopped once for wearing a Mage T-Shirt but thats beside the point)...

So basically by opening the flick on december 21st your guaranteed that it will only open in multiplexes and only then in the medium sized screens in a time period were a lot of people do not the time to visit the flicks and if they do they'll probably be hungering after LOTR...

So what was the reasoning behind the scheduling???

Any answers will be most appreciated.
