people who dont like the movie need to lighten up and watch it for what it is... a funny movie
: Saw all the movies. Loved em.
: Saw it last night with my friend Dana. It was without a doubt the silliest Kevin Smith movie I have ever seen. I laughed my ass off, and enjoyed it thoroughly.
: If there were a Filmmaker's Inquisition, Kevin would most certainly be public enemy number one, with a list of transgressions as long as their wagging tongues: Starring in your own film, tissue-paper plot, granting arbitrary cameos to friends and personal icons, repeated self-referencing jokes and shameless camera-mugging-- this stoopid, stoopid film made me laugh fifteen times more than that mondo disappointment America's Sweethearts.
: Basically, this movie is a silly, shameless nod to the previous Smith flicks, and to its credit, makes no attempt to be anything else. I read in one review it was Smith's attempt to rid himself of the characters by simply swimming in them, a kind of 'Metamucil for the creative soul' -- taking the 'Jersey ' movies, putting them in the blender, and hitting Ginsulamachinefrappe-- and I find no reason to doubt the story. If this is indeed the case, I can appreciate it fully in that sense.
: The audience is treated to a full measure of our heroes even as the movie references opinions that they can't carry a movie by themselves; the humour is as extremo-lame and childish as Beavis and Butthead, and sophisticated enough to please the most recent readers of Variety. There is little in the movie or the plot to hold onto, but you don't hold on--like teens on a rollercoaster, it's really better if you just throw your arms up in the air and enjoy the ride.
: I'm glad I don't have to rate this movie--what can one say? If you've seeen his films & liked them, see it. If you've never seen a Smith film-- well, what the fuck are you waiting for, a fuckin engraved invite? Get that little pussy kid at the video store to put his dick back in his pants and grab you the last four flicks, they fuckin rock.
: All I can say for myself is that Kevin Smith is one of those artists-- like Elvis Costello or Tom Waits, whom I have come to love and respect as an artist, rather than someone whose art I like; someone whose work I will always enjoy, whatever he decides to do.
