Hmmm...is it just me, or is the PT Anderson VS Tim Burton VS Kevin Smith thing about the most mindless thing I've ever heard?
Let me make one thing clear: you can be critical all you want. Shit, people who don't know shit are usually the ones who criticize the most! But to trash another film simply because you are a die hard fan of a different director? I love all 3 of the above named directors! I own just about every movie any of those guys did! Why? BECAUSE I LIKE MOVIES, GOD DAMN IT, AND ANDERSON, BURTON AND SMITH ARE 3 OF THE BEST THERE IS! Even if those 3 don't get along, I'm supposed to bend over and cheer for the one I like better and trash the others? You people are dumber than shit!
And I certainly can't say this enough: It's like comparing apples to oranges. when you watch PT Anderson, you know it's gonna be a 2 1/2 hour drama with a cast big enough for 3 movies. When you watch Burton, you know you're gonna get some surreal, whacked out story. And for Mr Smith? It's all about the burn! (just kidding). You know what Kevin is all about.
And for the record: Planet of the Apes is Tim's WORST film. Wait, let me clarify: I don't think there exists a 'bad' Burton film, except for Planet of the Apes. Which was boring and pretty standard. There were some nice touches here and there, but nothing truly interesting.
Compare Kevin's movies to other COMEDIES and tell me his movies are not superior. Really, what's the better 'teen' comedy, Mallrats or American Pie? It doesn't even compare!
So I have this suggestion to you: Complain to the theatre you went to. If you bitch enough (and based off of the posts I've read, many of you are very very very good at that) they will give you a free pass. Great, now you can see American Pie 2 or save it for the next over-rated Ridley Scott commercial! Enjoy!
