I go to the theatre I sit down, and I see a guy two rows down who is friggin Kevin Smiths Clone. So I am thinking, "Alright good omen." The films gonna kick ass and all that. But then my stomach begins to churn as I realize the theatre I am at (Vancouver,Can) is only about a quarter filled. The movies about 5 minutes away from starting and I am actually pissed off. I'm squeezing the god damn arm-rest so tight the cup holder snaps...I look at my friend and he is engrossed in the theatre magazine about up and coming dreck that I am sure he wants to see (ie. some teen angst sex comedy/killer chasing dumb shits/and they all star Freddie Jr.) not that there isn't a place for films such as that, like my ass, but hell its opening weekend for the shiz of all shiz! JAY & SILENT BOB STRIKE BACK!! Come on people what are you....wait! Here come some more people in, and more and more...Indeed, before the film began we had a rush of people who came in, no doubt having a parking lot huddle of the most extreme importance, *coughcough* Blunt! So, the theatre was almost filled up as the lights went down, and a smile flashed across my face. It has begun. The movie, of course made me laugh. Oh how I laughed, ("can't believe I'm gonna get some pussy,for stealing the monkey,stealing the little monkey!{i was crying I was laughing so hard!}") During the entire film I can honestly say I felt a sense of pride, strange since I have absolutely nothing to do with the K.Smith films I love so much. My pride came from the cheering, the outbursts of laughter and surprise (yes surprise) This audience loved this movie! I don't get to see many audiences that open up, and enjoy themselves as much as I did in this Sucker! We actually appluaded at the beginning/middle and end!For that alone Kevin and all those involved should be proud/happy/horny. Fuck those #1 #2 and # 3 Box Office bullshit stats that so many were harping over. (though how I wish it was #1,AP2 I am sure was funny,The first one made me laugh,but It does not deserve 3 top spot weekends in a row.) J&SBSB did! Ok im on a rant here...But what I am trying to say here is that for that one night, that one showing, For me and everyone in there, it was number one. Kevin Smith nailed it! Bring him fortune and the clout to do whatever he wants next, in my opinion. It is now 8am on sunday here in vancouver. I have to work a graveyard shift tonight at the job I hate. But I just spent $200 bucks at the Secret Stash, and I am leaving early tonight,you see, for there is a megaplex nearby that will guide me through my dark and lonely night, There is a film that is number one in alot of peoples minds playing there. I am 25 years old and I will make movies one day (my dream), but for now I am going to see IT fucking again.
