I always have seen sneak previews as a crappy idea...
All the diehard fans, or even people who have a decent to sizeable interest in the characters or movies and hear that there is a "Sneak Preview" will go to see it. Now, if they don't like the movie, then yeah, that is hurting our numbers, because then the idea of a sneak preview spreading word-of-mouth fails. Now if they do like it, that still doesn't insure that they will return to see it again. Many people LOVE movies and still only see them once. And word-of-mouth really only goes so far...
I still think it was a shitty idea... Personally I saw it both S.P. and Opening weekend, but I just don't think the average non-posting-at-View-Askew-message-boards-type public sees movies 12 times...
sigh...Either way, This still qualifies as the ONLY movie this summer that really made me laugh and the ONLY movie to live up to it's hype..
