Mr.Smith, I sincerely apologize. I, sadly, am not going to be able to contribute to this weekend's funds for Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. Thus far, I have spent roughly two hours driving to different theaters trying to see the flick, which has turned out to be an effort in vain. "Why couldn't you see the movie?" you may ask. Well, I am 16 years old. I have seen all of your movies. I own them all on DVD. I also see lots and lots of movies in my spare time. I also am a teenager living in America. All these statements combine to form the fact that I figure I'm exposed enough to "naughty" language that I would probably be able to handle "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back". As a matter of fact, I bought the soundtrack to your film just minutes before my first failed attempt to purchase a ticket on Friday. Apparently Best Buy and Showcase Cinemas have different standards. As another matter of fact, I saw American Pie 2 in one of the theaters I visited on my extensive quest these past two days. That particular film has both curse words and *gasp* nudity. But alas, I still have to be 17 to see any R film, despite the fact that I managed to get a ticket for AP2. In 6 months I'll apparently be "ready" to see graphic violence, bad language, and whatever else may constitute an 'R' rating. Naturally, I would just see it with my father, who consequently really enjoys your films (Dogma is his favorite movie of all time), but he is out of town. My mother is also out of town. My 18 year old sister, who could conceivably buy me a ticket, is off to college. All my 18 year old friends have left for college. No other would-be patrons of the cinemas I went to wanted to help a brother out and buy me a ticket. It would appear to be seemingly impossible for me to see "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back" this weekend. Until I do, I'm trying to stow away my excitement by finding solace in my DVDs, but it just ain't the same. Just for the record, at least seven of my friends are in the same predicament as I am as far as seeing "J&SBSB" goes. I had four of them with me on my journey this Friday. So I guess I won't find out 'till Monday if Hollywood is ready for Jay and Silent Bob, but in the meantime, as long as I'm unaccompanied by an adult, I suppose Hollywood is more ready for Jay and Silent Bob than I am.
-David
