Even if that is the case, it's not bad, althought not what we hoped. I hope things change, it might sneak into #2 it's not far behind RH2.

RH2 was made for mass audience appeal (even though it sucked, it was the ultimate sell-out). It was PG-13.

Still, I will be a little upset if 3rd and 4th week comedies that are inferior beat J&SB (while I liked AP2, RH2 sucked big monkey nuts). If this is the case it means that the Dimension marketers DID MAKE A HUGE MISTAKE waiting until this weekend. Remember way back months ago they pushed the date back a week becuase of the feat of the "American Pie 2 / Rush Hour 2 juggernaut". Well, that was looking like a bad idea.

It would have been better to release last weekend with no Sneak, it would have still come in third but would have made more money overall.

Look at it this way, the other new releases Summer Catch and Ghosts of Mars came in at #6 and #9 for $7.5mill and $3.8mill. Last weekend 40+ million was spent on the top two flicks (AP2, RH2), both of which are primary competition to J&SB. This weekend the top THREE only netted a bit over $33 million (this weekend is a bad weekend for young-adult comedies).

What I'm saying is that if released last weekend, the movie would have still come in 3rd place, but would have made more money while doing so. If it made 11 million this weekend, it definately would have beaten Rat Race (which was #3 last week with 11 million, but dropped to #5 this week, no staying power). Take the $$$ from the sneak, and the fact that last weekend $52 million were spent on the top 3 (all comedies) and this week only $33 million were spent on the top 3 (again, all comedies), and you can EASILY assume J&SB would have pulled $15 million if released last week. Plus, it would still be #3 this week with another $10 million or so.

Easily.
