I think it is a bit confusing, as Kevin pointed out and explained when Amy came out (it's in the summaries) that Banky was not gay at all, and went into detail about the relationship between him and Holden, ect....however Banky's coversation with Hooper at the end of JSBSB would clearly make one think he's openly gone to the other side.
