First of all, he gave them three stars which is not only not LOVING them, but is the same fucking review that everyone's bent out of shape for him giving JAY & SILENT BOB STRIKE BACK.
He didn't claim either of them was good on any real level, but that he enjoyed them as trashy fun. Well, what one enjoys as trashy fun is a personal thing. I don't have a problem with one person enjoying any movie as such, as long as they recognize and are open about it.
The critic's job isn't to like all the right things, it's to explain well why they did or didn't like things. I found his explanations of those to be more than adequate.
People who demand that any given critic only approves of "good" movies are missing out on a lot… especially since they're clearly not operating with a full set of brain cells.
