Neil is dead on here for two reasons (at least).

1) Black & white film is cheaper. Not to mention the fact that Kevin got a discount after enrolling in some crazy class up in NYC (I don't remember the name of the class, but I think it had something to do with a farm animal. Read "My First Movie" for the whole scoop).

2) Kevin and crew wanted to use the lights from the store instead of renting an expensive light kit. Unfortunately, this type of lighting causes color film to have a greenish tint to it.
