I thought the strength of Chasing Amy convinced him to work with Smith.
Anyway, don't go nuts bashing everyone who didn't come back for this movie. He might have been doing another project, you know. He is off in a very serious project about some boy wizard. Perhaps that kept him tied up. It's not like he's only done films like Sense and Sensibility. This is the same guy who was in a Tom Selleck western. I doubt he takes himself *that* seriously.
