That scene was definitely one of the funniest in the movie. And I really think it was - at least partially - in reference to the upcoming live-action movie, because its stars look just as ridiculous - if not more ridiculous - than the Scooby gang in JSBSB wearing their costumes. And the nod to Marc Blucas was an obvious laugh at FPJ and SMG (apparently, names are not meant to be mentioned here), as he stars in both Buffy: The Vampire Slayer and "Summer Catch" - which I seriously think should NOT be getting more buzz than JSBSB, considering it's just a clever "Tomcats" with baseball and a better-looking cast.
So - in conclusion - don't be irritated. Whether it was a laugh at the expense of the upcoming movie, the old cartoon, or just because he's Scooby-DOOBY-Doo, it doesn't matter. It was funny, and that was that.
