: Well, I want to know if it would be Illegal to sample the French version,

Sampling without permission is illegal. If the tune is entirely for your own personal pleasure, then go for it - who's going to know? If you plan to release this tune, you'll get sued to fuck without permission.

: and if it is, could I have your permission to?

Kevin can't give you his permission, as he doesn't own the film - Miramax does. You're best off approaching them.

: I know I would have to probably get Run DMC's permission too, but I'm not to sure how that Works.

You wouldn't have to get Run DMC's permission for the sample, as you're not sampling them. However, as writers of the sample, they would get paid appropriate publishing royalties from any sales.

Your best bet would be to learn the French version and record it yourself. You'll avoid any entanglements with Miramax and will only have to deal with Run DMC's publishers. Much cheaper and easier all round.
