What the SHOULD do is tie the spiderman movie to the X-Men flick by saying that a spider was mutated in Magnetos molecule mutating machine at the end of X-Men, and it found its way to Peter Parker (a NYC native). They could say that the mutation machine affected animals in a different way than it did humans and thats why it didnt die like Senator Kelly did!

Ya know... The one question that comes to mind at that moment.. is if you think of all the heroes and villians who got their power from radiation... Spider-man, Hulk, Fantastic Four, etc etc etc... How is it that none of them are from New Jersey??!! I mean not to down on the state, but we all know that Jersey has plenty of waste dumps in their Garden State! Why is it Jersey doesn't have a native, radiation caused superhero/villian?!?! Just a concept... Maybe that should be Kevin's next comic project instead of Black Cat
