I don't know much on the subject, but I do know that the boy in a bubble disease is a real one. It basically affects your immune system in a bad way--some acquaintances of mine found out that their son had it when he was 5 months old. He's now 2--and has been in the hospital since, but gets to go home next week. germ-proofing their house has cost them over $65,000, they had to get rid of all their pets, all books, sheets must be thrown away rather than washed...and medicine runs over $850 per day. He could get better, but it is doubtful that he'll ever have a 'normal' life.
So needless to say, I won't be at the movie. I just thought I'd tell whoever wants to read it a very basic summary of some of the disease's quirks.
