I have no idea wether to wax profound or just write the blasted thing, so I'll just write and see what transpires.

My friend and I have shot home movies for a good while now and I wanted to seek the advice of someone who, let's say, has more experience in this area than than we currently do.
Let me second this post by thanking you for the creativity and humor your movies are abundant with. I guess I am one of the few, correction is in need if I'm wrong, that actually thinks Mallrats is by far the best movie you've written. I own the DVD and am still awed (all right, enough kiss butt) at the way it turned out, it's one of a kind and this is my first time ever writing to you or anyone with screenwriting skills, if you couldn't tell. But seriously, there is a point to this Post!!!
I wanted to know how it's done? That isn't too hard a question is it? Yeah, enough to not get a response! But I really want to know what are some key steps into making that first trip to Sundance and getting some recognition. (Damn, this sounds like I am lookin for a job, sorry) I enjoy cinema and have watched many a movies, I love 'em and wish I could be a part of them. But I want to do it right. I know that I could ask other writers and directors, but I wanted to take a stab in the dark and see if you could provide some guidance to a poor lost college soul.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and for your great one liners as Silent Bob. (PS, looking forward to Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back)

One of the many fans out there,
Clayton Zaugg
