In high school, I had this friend. We'll call him "the cheese". There were four of us that hung out together a lot, and The Cheese was convinced that a sufficient quantity of Mountain Dew, some Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comics (old Eastman/Laird stuff, not the cartoony color knockoffs), and a reasonable sampling of Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan flicks were sufficient resources with which to stylize one's own ninja training program.

There were times we'd be skulking across golf courses in the dead of night, clad in dark clothing, and for no reason at all The Cheese would execute a somersault ending up behind a tree, peering around to ensure he hadn't been seen.

(This was when we were 16 & 17, so it's not like we were 8 or anything. We knew better, but we also knew that we had nothing better to do.)

So here go J&SB, into Provasik. Hoods over their faces, rolling around in the parking lot so as to maintain their ninja stealth.

I just about shot Cherry Coke out my nose. (It would have been Mountain Dew, but the theater didn't carry pepsi... not that you all care.)

My three friends and I, the trio remaining after the departure of The Cheese, were all giggling hysterically. The rest of the audience died down, and still we were certain we would need to be hospitalized.

For YEARS we have tried to impart on our friends and loved ones exactly what it was to be friends with The Cheese. His antics, though absurd and clearly juvenile, were also inherently cool. You couldn't HELP but be enthralled by the call to "ninjafication". The ONLY person on this planet who didn't know The Cheese personally, and still understands... is Kevin Smith.

Thanks.

That was a LOT of fun.

And as an added compliment, a friend of mine who has long avoided the transition to DVD left the theater saying "I will own that movie. It may be the first DVD I ever end up having."

From the Three of us,

Thanks.
