Kevin Smith never promoted this movie as Othello or anything.
If you get a cheap laugh, fine. Take it for what it is at that.
I would have to guess that Kev didn't spend a lot of time "internationalizing" this flick. Oh well. Hopefully enough of the movie references will be Universally-known (pardon the in-joke) that folks overseas will enjoy it.
If not, they can wait for his next flick, which I'm sure will be a mature crowd-pleaser.
And I'm thinking-- the French will dig J&SBSB, anyway.
