ABSOLUTELY NO SPOILERS BELOW
The location: Columbia, Missouri. The state's university is here, and what do you get in a college town? Lots and lots of Kevin Smith fans.
So, no surprise then that tonight's sneak show of Jay & Silent Bob, announced on very short notice around here, was SOLD OUT. These were core fans, the kind of people who applauded for every Askew character who came to the screen. Jay and Bob, Randal, Dante, Brodie, Holden, Banky, Hooper, Alyssa, all got applause.
This is a pumped audience. The kind that KNEW to sit through the entire credits. You know a movie is getting a good reaction when, not only is howling laughter drowning out certain bits of dialogue, but at the end, someone shouts "IT CAN'T BE OVER!" and, of course, after the final farewell at the end of the credits (STAY TO THE END, people), applause thundered all around, while one man bellowed "MY LIFE IS COMPLETE!"
This is the hardest of the hardcore. For them, and me, this is a personal smash. It feels like it was made for each and every one of us, and who can't feel thankful for all of that?
