kevin's writing is obviously deeper than "half-baked"...look at "chasing amy" and "dogma". even "clerks" and "mallrats" read more like a play than some cheech and chong movie. i think it's just that people that would enjoy "jay and silent bob" would also be watching "half baked" so kev could get a new fanbase (the extra money to beat out ap2 at the box office). studios might call it demographics; i'd say it's "let's see if they'll dig the flick". kev's a smart guy when it comes to marketing. (as long as it's not gramercy) :)
