I just saw a sneak preview of this movie at Regal Cinemas in Easton, PA.

The movie had several hilarious moments but the whole picture seemed to lose itself around the midway point. There were suprisingly many sellout/lame scenes... what's up with the lame-o scooby doo scene? or the part with shannen doherty and wes craven? That was filmmaking at it's worst. And how many times must the characters look towards the audience... 1 time is enough... but this film has 4 of them! Will Ferrell is *never* funny and why he was in this movie is beyond me. His ranger character didn't have one funny line. Stealing animals is kind of lame too. You could hear the theater go from tons of laughter (the opening/Jay's lines/Morris Day and Time references) to chuckling (Good Will Hunting 2: Hunting Season) to absolute silence (Chaka, the orangutan). Towards the end, the laughs picked up with Mark Hamill, and the great ending with THE TIME, but most people seemed to be *trying* to like the movie instead of actually liking it. Do you know what I mean? Like, hey this movie started out really funny, but now it's not, but it's gotta be great because it's Kevin Smith.

Or maybe it was the fact that I had to take one hell of a piss and tried to hold it as long as possible, and finally went during the part where Jay & Silent Bob are talking to Van Der Beek and the dude from American Pie. I was hoping the movie would end but it just dragged on so I got up and took a piss. Thankfully I got back right before the Mark Hamill/Light Saber stuff.

This movie really needs about 15-20 minutes chopped off. I was sitting beside an old couple who didn't laugh once throughout the movie. Oh, it was about 2/3 full also. I'm going back on Friday to see the movie again (this time without a large Pepsi) but the movie just lost it's sense of humor around 45 minutes through. Shannon Elizabeth just can't act. Oh, and the stuff with Jon Stewart was just plain bad... this guy is NOT funny, either. More George Carlin, Kevin. Damn. Now i'm wondering if this movie was even as good as Superman IV: The Quest for Peace.

Lou's first viewing... 6/10 (funny in spots, but kind of a sellout)
