I read somewhere (Wizard special issue, maybe?) about when Kevin was asked about the Jay being killed rumor. He said he wouldn't do that; while he plans for this to be the end of the Jersey saga, there's always the chance he might want to revive it down the line. He doesn't want to put the kibosh on that chance, so as far as I remember, none of the major VA characters will be facing death.
There's also the Clerks animated film, which I'm sure will include the Bambi-eyed Jay and skinny-legged Silent Bob. And then, there's the comics. So while this may be the end of feature film appearances of our beloved Askewniverse folks, we won't lose them completely.
