Yeah, I know it sounds hypersensitive to outsiders, but I appreciate that you can understand enough to relate it to the "jew down" comment...
To me, it's like "gay" is the one positive word we've got to describe ourselves, and in addition to all the flack from our enemies, we've got youth culture re-tainting the word into something awful again.
It's pretty clear to me that saying this or that is "sooo gay" stems from the idea that it's something so stupid or lame only a gay person would wear it, or do it, or whatever...
For what it's worth, I agree that GLAAD, like all media watchdog groups, chooses it's battles with an eye toward publicity and possible outcome, and doesn't always seem to pick the most egregeous example as its target...
But I also think that Kevin, in spite of his non-damaging intentions, is often blind to the anti-gay repurcussions in his work... As I've said before, I don't think Amy was nearly the pro-gay statement Kev would like to think, as much as I enjoyed it... I wonder if all his gay friends and family aren't so close to it all (or perhaps so hip, cynical or apolitical--not that those are bad things) that he never gets called on stuff during the creative process...
