A quick question for other posters - just curious as to your opinions, in wake of the GLAAD/J&SBSB brouhaha (which is pretty fucking dumb, considering Kevin's track record).
Has anyone seen the trailer to "Rush Hour 2"? Chris Tucker (who, okay, admittedly, I loathe) remarks on how Asians "all look alike". It's a comedy and the cultural clashes are the gag, but the comment still seemed overtly racist and really unnecessary to me. Others assured me that I was overreacting (am I?).
SO, are words and stereotypes only "bad" if the intent behind expressing them is malicious? If not (if they're "bad" simply because they've been said), how come GLAAD is all up in Kevin's face, and no one's said a thing about "Rush Hour 2" yet?
I'll stop now. I'm going all Mariah Carey here.
