Take heart Kevin. I review films and always try to be fair yet Bliunt at Blunt Review. When Traffic came out I described Benicio Del Toro (as I do most of the men on film) as a food taken from the theme of the movie. "He was Chimmachunga porked out with a side of refried beans fat"....WELL. The boards went nuts at Traffic and his personal website that Emily Blunt was a racist! A racist???? I can't be--My family wouldn't allow it. I think our united nation-esque family blend is down to lacking only a Taiwanese midget then we are complete. The worst part? The idiots didn't get the joke---Traffic takes place in Mexico, hence the Mexican food refrence? ah-duh!Yeah, Del Toro is Puerto Rican...I didn't hear "spick" anywhere in the sentence did you? Meanwhile....Benny himself met me at the Oscars and gave me a tee-shirt (would have preferred naked pics, but what's a gal gonna do right?') He said his publicist told him about the site and he thanked me for calling him a "mansteak."
I right for The Gay Times (yes, I am "circumstantial lesbian"=straight chickbabe w/lot's of "gay" friends;) You want I should publish your letter in the entertainment section....I saw the film and took no offense. I mean I'm not gay but practically 45% of my inner circle is. The characters are morons and represent the stupidity of the simple...It's comedy---Funny comedy. Mel Brooks has included "gay" jokes for over 30 years-- and he's no ball busting bigot--I think they need to take a chill pill and get over themselves ...what's next Chris Rock and the NAACP? He wasn't angry enough? Or he opposite, hurts the black man with his venomous jargon? Aagh.
