I read this when I got to work this morning, and sent it post haste to my wife to read. My wife for the record is a supporter of GLAAD and it's one of the charities that she gives to every year. Or was.
After reading this she has penned a letter, that I wish I could repost here but at her request will not, it basically says though that she believes that GLAAD KNOWS that J&SBSB isn't homophobic, but is using the gay jokes as fodder for what is essentially an extortion scam. She goes on to say that if that is the way they wish to raise money they don't need any of hers. I'm not nearly as eloquent as her so it's losing something in the translation.
Now granted, her few bucks a year won't make a dent in the 10K from Kev, or the ungodly amounts they must be making doing this to every film that has a gay joke or two in it. But they lost one of their voices...and if you knew my wife you'd know...it can be a loud and unweilding one. One that is now turned against them. And though I beleive she intends to stay just as positive about the glbt community as a whole, GLAAD can bet their asses that she will rail on them at every given opportunity.
I wish I could describe how pissed of she was when she called me back, suffice it to say, hell hath no fury etc etc.
