When I first moved to Seattle from Jersey two years ago I was called on substituting the word "gay". The funny thing was that the person who called me on it was some 40-year-old-midlife-crisis-white-lady-in-African-garb who then started to argue with my friends (two of which were gay) that I was a homophobe.

I then saw this lady months later in a reggae club I frequent. She asked "How I dare show my face in this club." This of course in reference that I have a shaved head. Of course she totally overlooked that I was singing along to numerous Reggae and ska songs, had a Prince Buster t-shirt on and that most of my friends whom I was hanging with happened to be black.

If there is one thing that I have learned from living in Seattle is that everything, EVERYTHING has somebody protesting it. And the protestors always feel they are above somebody else solely based on the fact that they make it their life mission to criticize and always expect the worst of people.
