off to the comic store....Fred is (and since childhood has been) rich, in $
and in ways beyond $...can't wait!

: Ms. Aberlin:

: I'm afraid I don't know which particular issue of the miniseries Mr.
Rogers makes his appearance in. If someone else on this board can provide
you with that, you could purchase the individual issue for about $3 from
Kevin's online store on the Internet, by going to this Web address:

: Otherwise, for about $14, you could purchase what I have, the "trade
paperback" (a collection of all four issues in the miniseries in bound
format). You can purchase that either on Kevin's store:

: Or on Amazon.Com:

: In the scene in question, Mr. Rogers is depicted as being chauffered
about in a limosuine, and as being unkind to Jay after Jay delivers a very
heartfelt monologue about what Mr. Rogers has meant to him throughout the
years. That's vaguely worded enough that you'll still appreciate the
scene, if you decide to pick it up.

: This may initially sound a bit abhorrent to someone who knows him, but I
think the humor of the scene arises from the sheer unreality of the scene,
the marked contrast between that and the kind, warm image that Fred Rogers
has always projected. We know Fred Rogers could never be like that; that's
why the scene's funny. It's like when an action hero comes out dressed in a
tutu.

: Mike

: : Please lemme know which J&SB comic this is as I would love to see
: : it. I'd guess our viewers know us better than we know ourselves,
: : and I'll bet there will be insight there as well as wit mightier
: : than the sword. I seem to remember a MAD Magazine roast; generally
: : Rogers has a great sense of humor and is flattered by the take
