My letter to GLAAD

Dear GLAAD,
I am writing to you because I was considerably disturbed by the letter
sent to Kevin Smith and the exchange that ensued between him and
Mr.Seomin regarding the film Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.
Although I do not have an eyewitness account of their conversations,
it seems to me the kind of maneuvering by Mr..Seomin borders on
blackmail.
It disheartened me to read the accusatory tone of Mr.Seomin's letter,
although I understand that your organization must revert to such
language by the very nature of what you are fighting for and against.
However, I would have thought that keeping Mr.Smith's other films in
mind, you would have chosen a different approach. Regardless of
this, Mr.Smith was quick and amicable in his reply. What happened
next leads me to believe that your organization is in need of serious
scrutiny. You either accepted Mr.Smith's contribution of $10,000.00 in
good faith, or you used him to further some dubious campaign.
Mr.Seomin's actions leave much room for speculation as to your
motives.
I am a heterosexual woman with many gay friends, and I guess what
I find the most troubling about your actions is the potential harm you
might do to your own organization. If this is the kind of behaviors we
can expect from GLAAD, then I'm pretty disappointed.

Sincerely,
Micaela Rossato
New York City
