I wonder if there wouldn't have been a GLAAD attack (heh, glad attack) or at least some commentary on Chasing Amy, had it included the scene with Holden arriving at Alyssa's door, only to encounter a real-live honest-to-gosh man-hater. (A splendid scene which was cut, I think, due to "Affleck's poor acting")

It's all well and good for Banky to get the lines about an "agenda of rage, bitter dyke", but to actually portray such a stereotype? There's nothing that groups hate more than having their worst examples held up to view.

"No! That's just a stereotype!"

And yet, strangely, stereotypes are based on examples in the world...

Saw a teriffic comedian (who's name escapes me) assurring the crowd that all stereotypes are false...you'll NEVER see a drunken irishman or a pompous brit, the german reputation for aggression is totally unfounded ...NO italian or jew has ever been known to incoroprate his or her arms and hands into the act of communication...and all americans are polite when they go traveling....

Just got to thinking about the totality of the flicks, and wondered how that scene would be accepted by the GLAAD folks.
