First of all, having seen this film yesterday, it's absolutely hilarious!
I am though, biased as a fan of Kevin's Work. Our entire morning show took a road trip to see the film together and spent this morning (Thursday 8/2) talking about it...including an interview with Tracy Morgan that included the "homophobe" issue and I even asked him about possible racial stereotyping issues with his playing a drug dealer. I echo his response..."Funny is funny!"
People are being too uptight and it only seems to be getting worse.
From my eyes, a man who grew up "chubby and self-conscious", had an occasional homosexual experiment, "open" to bisexuality, having a gay uncle and a lesbian mother, the real problem is SELF-IMPORTANT EXTREMISTS.
The notion of being able to laugh at oneself is getting buried in mounds of paperwork in this caustic litigious society.
Kevin is able to represent those guys in the neighborhood we chuckled about (or hung out with) in a fine cartoonish manner and all the while deliver them with a big helping of pop satire. This is not a DOCUMENTARY!
It is the latest in a series of FUNNY AS HELL Kevin Smith films.
Next time you are enjoying a work of fiction be it TV, Movie, Book, video game or whatever please do so with an OPEN MIND and a temporary SUSPENSION OF REALITY!
