And that's right, I called them assholes. So sue me. It's your right as an american, just as it was my right to say it in the first place.
Now that that's out of the way, I am going to defend Kevin and his rights, whether I need to or not. Someone a lot smarter than me once sad "I may not agree with what you say, but I'll die to defend your right to say it"
Disagree with me or not, but Kevin should be able to make whatever movie he wants, whether it be "Kill all the Queers and Niggers and Chinks", or "Perfect World Where Everyone Sees Eye To Eye on Every Issue." And while it may not be something we approve of, it is his right. He should not have to defend his right to say whatever he wants. You don't like it, fine, go get a camera and make "Kevin Smith is the Devil". Just don't think that because you don't agree, he should have to stop doing what he does.
GLAAD is wrong in attacking Kevin, as is everyone who jumps on their bandwagon. Why is it that minorities see themselves as being on a pedestal, where they can watch the world from afar, safe from being poked fun at? That's no way to garner acceptance, to place yourself away from the group. If you truly want to play equals with the human collective, you should learn to take a joke just like everyone else.
I think Jay Sherman, "The Critic", said it best, "Just don't go". Goddamn it people, if something offends you, just don't watch it. How utterly pretentious are you to think that others should change their views on what's funny, just to spare your overly delicate nature. Im no rascist, and I'm no homophobe, but I sure do find their jokes funny. I know its become cliche'd, but think about it, is it rascist when Chris Rock makes fun of whitey in his act? Don't see no one protesting him...
Finally, a little poll...
Who else thinks that the opportunists at GLAAD just deceived Kevin into making a donation to further their attack, in an attempt to make him look guilty? Sure does seem awfully convenient to their cause to lay controversey on a celebrity, lots of publicity to be created in that...
