(Madonna on the cover.) : ---------------------------------------- : WATCH THIS FACE - Jason Lee : The star of "Almost Famous" and the upcoming "Vanilla Sky" talks about his life in film. : : Have you always wanted to act? : No. I used to skateboard professionally. That was my whole life, but eventually I wanted to try different things. I knew a lot of actors, so I came into it that way. : : Who would you most like to work with? : There are so many- Edward Norton, Benicio Del Toro, Joaquin Phoenix- of course, Robert De Niro, to see what that trip is all about! Tom Cruise is amazing, a real treat to work with.I also admire Gene hackman a lot. : : And what about the opposite sex? : Meryl Streep- she's a master at what she does. I also love ensemble work- I would have loved to have been part of One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest. : : Any directors you'd love to work with? : I really want to be in a movie directed by Sean penn,and if he acted in it as well, all the better! The Coen brothers' movies have a lot to do with why I am an actor- I drew inspiration from all of them. : : Are you an indie guy or a blockbuster bloke? : If I like the project, I'll take it. It doesn't matter what the budget is. : : Do you find it difficult to shale off a character after filming? : No, I have no problem with that. I don't think you have to delve really deep into your psyche to perform well. As long as you feel the emotion, you should be able to do it. : : What would you refuse to do in a film? : I can't see myself playing an all-action hero, so I wouldn't want to do that. And I wouldn't do nudity. : : If not acting, what would you do? : I would probably be a musician, but I'm also a huge supporter of art. I finance art exhibitions for friends in LA. : : What's your long-term game plan? : I want to make films within the studio system without making too many sacrifices. I want to have a lot of movies inder my belt. And i want to have a huge art collection! : ----------------------------------------
