: it seems to me that only applies to Dogma being that the only "big star" in Mallrats was Shannon Daugherty and even when Amy came out Ben Affleck was still unknown. But whatever. I just want to play nice.
Again, not Kevin, but I know the studios think that people that aren't necessarily stars but have worked lots before are a safer bet. Kevin had to fight for Mewes on MALLRATS, and Affleck, while still not sexy, white toofed Affleck we know now, had done memorable turns in DAZED AND CONFUSED, MALLRATS, SCHOOL TIES, and lots of other stuff. And he STILL had to argue for him.
Trust me, I know how almost impossible it is to get people that, while talented, aren't what studios consider "names". And yet Kevin puts the people he truly believes are best for the parts. He got O'Halloran and Anderson auditions for MALLRATS, and while I doubt Gramercy was keen on them for leads, Missah Smith still gave O' Halloran a memorable part.
Actually, Kevin uses people that were in his smaller films more than ANYONE I know now that he can get the big names. He might not use everyone, but you gotta admit, while some of YOUR favorites might not have made it to the other movies, he's feircely loyal to his actors.
