I mean, all the features are great. The movie, both commentaries, the
outttakes, deleted scenes, etc. It's just the presentation that sucks.
I am a designer and know a lot about "human interface" design
theory, and this disc goes out of its way to break every single rule ever
made on interface design. Nothing is easy to do, nothing is fast.
Nothing is even labeled correctly. You have to poke around to find
even the simplest things you're looking for. In the design business
we call this a "scratch and sniff" interface.
All the little scenes of an old lady warning you off are annoying from
the very start. When I hit ENTER on something, I want it to start... I
don't want to sit through faux-cute little joke. The disc even plays video
clips when you put it in before you can even get to the menus. You
have to sit through this crap EVERY TIME.
On top of all these complaints, which are really decisions that were
made by the designers, the thing just doesn't function very well. It
doesn't work on any computer DVD player I've tried and it's sluggish
and sometimes takes several attempts to do anything on regular
consumer DVD players.
The designers could have gone for class and simplicity and still
made the menus and whatnot look like a million bucks. They decided
to go for brash and annoying and barely functional.
