: - is that so many theaters have now taken to showing TELEVISION COMMERCIALS before the movies.
over here that's the normal thing. in multiplexes anyway. you get slide-show one page adverts for Pictionary, local businesses and the cinema while music plays. then the cinema darkens and you get the adverts. then the trailers. (then sometimes a wee short film or music video). then the film.
a bunch of comercials have londer versions for the cinema. and some are cool. Michel Gondry's Smirnoff ad was amazing.
it did get a wee bit boring after a while, though.
crap ads, you get to take the piss out of. it's all good, yo. or something.
oh yeah, and between the trailers and the film there is an advert for a bank or mobile phone company and a really stupid advert for IMAX. yes.
most of this is from my experience going to the local UCI. and occasional visits to the Warner Village.
but the Cornerhouse indie cinema doesn't have adverts as i remember... maybe it does... Ian? (like it matters :) )
