they were not plaining on killing themselves, once they passed throungh the arch, they would come outside and wait for the Police and have the police kill them. Thus making them sinless in death.

I grew up protestent and currently am more agnostic then anything, so I am not sure if this is true for catholicism, but isn't suicide a sin? Since B&L were going into this planning to kill themselves they would have their sins forgiven and have to get themselves killed intentionaly which would be suicide. Therefore they have sinned and at the least be sent to purgatory. If not hell depending on how the system is set up. So even if the Scion failed their plan in the end would have been foiled. Dunno.... Just my thoughts.
