Actually the DVD messed up the sound on that scene

The way the scene plays on the DVD and laserdisc, the sound FADES OUT before it cuts to black- some genius at Disney decided to "correct it" because what ORIGINALLY happened was, as the camera holds on Dante lying dead on the floor, all of the background noise in the store FADES UP and gets really loud, then cuts to silence when the image goes to black. I have no idea why it was altered for the laserdisc and DVD- the way it originally played with that crescendo of background noise cutting to silence and then the cash register fading up was a lot more effective.
