: On about the subject, thus contradicting themselves. I don't care about having the last word; I do care about expressing myself. I also don't care about winning or losing the "argument", given that the stance seems to be rape is potentially funny vs. no it isn't, I'm not too worried as to whether I'm on the righteous side or not.
: : Gah. Feminism had a few decent goals back in the day, but they've been achieved. The 70 cents on the dollar line is crap, women earn less because they work fewer hours and take time out of the work force. When you account for that, women earn $1.02 for every dollar men earn. No one's forcing these women to have children...they WANT to. The men work harder and bring home money to support the family, because that's what makes sense to do.
: Okay, women work for absolutely no money having and raising children for the benefit of everyone in society, yet men work HARDER...how so? You know, I forgot about that thing where every man in the world supports his children and family...single mothers? I defy you to find me one example of a woman who must both raise her children AND work to support them. Naturally it isn't appropriate for a man to contribute to child care, so naturally men should work and women should stay home with the kids. And of course, every time a woman has a child, it's a conscious choice...that's why abortion is not an issue, right?
: You're so full of shit, it's spilling out of your mouth. I don't want you to think I don't want to hear your opinions, but I'm telling you, you do not know what you're talking about, and elaboration is not helping.
: The 70 cents thing (and that's only for white women by the way; women of color earn a much lower percentage) is meant to compare ONLY full-time workers; this even-handed measuring is part of what we call statistical accuracy. There is no way to presume the reasons why women work less hours, if that is indeed the case (and if we count unpaid childcare and domestic labor as work, which we should, I believe we'd find that women work many more hours than men). That is, no way to presume unless we're falling back on old-fashioned cliches like the ones you just spouted.
: : Who's standing up for "feminism" these days? Steinem likes dating rich real estate moguls. Dworkin claims that marriage is rape ( I guess love isn't in her lexicon). Shere Hite came out with a nasty, man-hating, scientifically unfounded "report" a few years back. Not a distinguished bunch.
: Dworkin is an uptight know-nothing. Never read Hite, myself. Steinem's doing what she wants to do, which is alright with me. Read Camille Paglia; she's not for everyone, and you won't agree with everything she says, but she is anti-mainstream and thought-provoking. bell hooks is also brilliant and more likable.
: : Oh yeah, men had it so good. I'm sure they LOVED being conscripted for the local Lord's war; or working in the fields until they dropped. Yep, sure was GREAT being a man. I guess chivalry didn't protect women, nope, it was all for the guys.
: Come to think of it, I've changed my mind! Things might have been repressive back in the good ol' days, but at least there was chivalry. Yeah, slap an iron belt on my genitals, let me work the fields, the kitchen AND the nursery, and give me an average twenty-eight year life span and best of all, a man to open my doors for me. I'm all set.
: Fuck the last word. I can keep going all night. Bring it on baby.

'I can keep going all night. Bring it on baby' Is this what the rapist told you?
EWWWW!!!!
