The new ones are MORE in-your-face than the classics...and that's the problem. Old episodes made you think and absorb the jokes, a lot of the time. Pauses, sarcasm, irony...it was all there. But not anymore. Now the humor is more juvenile, as opposed to the mature cartoon it used to be.
I'm sure newer Simpsons fans love it, but weather-beaten ones like me know better. Some long-time fans, like Vincent, still enjoy it though. I merely tolerate it.
