Star Wars: The Phantom Edit: Zap2It.Com reports that a stir is going around LA right now over a new re-edited version of George Lucas' first "Star Wars" prequel. This version of "The Phantom Menace" is around 20 minutes shorter than the theatrical version and aside from a sarcastic new scrolling text, various other elements have been cut including a lot of Jar Jar Binks' involvement. Other bits gone include Anakin's "yippeee" kiddie dialogue from various scenes, but most glaring of all is the underwater sub-creatures chase sequence which has been entirely excised. Even more interesting is that the cuts are so professional, speculation is now running rife on who is responsible and Writer/Director Kevin Smith is already being rumoured as one possible suspect.
