I ask this, because it sounds like you are making judgements based on men who have a corncob up their asses at all times. I did. I didn't leave that theater going "YAH! USA!!". I left that theater stunned. That's right. I had no words for what I just saw. It wasn't a cutsie romantic tripe that happened in some war. The romance in it was just a form of character building for the attack. You have to experience the people involved in order to get the true meaning of the tragedy of this attack.

1) Did the japanese look horribly bad in this film? NO

They looked like they had to choice to be able to preserve their oil supplies that the US were blocking from them. They felt they had no choice to attack. They went through stategy and ballistics in front of your eyes about how this was done. btw, the fact that we were cutting the japanese from their oil was very true. This may have been where the criticism for the romantic story lies. There were scenes of the japanese preparation in between kind of taking you away from the romantic aspects.

2)I DESPISE Bruckheimer. End of discussion there. Yet I love this movie. It left me feeling traumatized by the horrors of this attack and the lives lost. I think it said a lt that actual survivors were on the set almost everyday. I also think that it said a lot that about a third of the people that I watched this movie with were 60 or over, whose parents, husbands, sons, and friends died in this war. Some that died in this battle.

3) The main aspects of the film were very accurate to the actual events. There were some weak points aka the US Intelligence decoders that the movie could have carried better.

4) There is even a scene where an asian american military doctor tried to treat a soldier who was screaming "Get away from me you jap!" Reflecting the sentiment of the time that lead to the japanese concentration camps.

Go see it! Then come back and tell me what you thought. I too thought it was going to be another Titanic but I wanted to see it due to the historical event. I think the only time I caught a glimpse of Titanic was when the battleships were sinking. I just grinned at that one. It isn't though. It is a war movie, by every stretch of the imagination. See it for that.

Cherie
