By the way, I have seen it, and I thought Lee was excellent.

: If anyone is a hardcore Jason Lee fan you may want to read this, or just go to Film-411. Peace.

: Jennifer Love Hewitt and Sigourney Weaver are a mother/daughter con team making a career out of working their magic for divorce settlements, not to mention ways of getting free food and lodging. And it's all going fine after they con Ray Liotta out of a nice wad of cash and head to Palm Springs where they stake out their new targets, Gene Hackman and Jason Lee. But things do not always go as planned.

: The Review
: I was surprised at just how funny this film was. Most of the time, comedies with the romance angle thrown in can be very bland and disappointing. But this film kept me laughing all the way through and many of the lines were delivered perfectly.
: Jennifer Love Hewitt hasn't had the best film and television career thus far but is great in this film. She plays the selfish, stubborn daughter to a tee and does well when it comes to comedy.
: Weaver does fine as the mother but her foreign character con got on my nerves a bit. Her scenes with Hewitt were great though and the two worked well off one another.
: Ray Liotta was absolutely hilarious. I'm normally not a big fan of Liotta but he had some of the most humorous lines in the film and delivered them in a way that steals every scene he's in.
: Hackman is great as a tobacco tycoon who coughs his way through the film. It's a wonder he didn't blow out his throat with all the hacking he had to do for the role. It's a bit of a change from roles he's done before and he does just fine as a different character.
: Keaven Nealon has a quick humorous cameo, as does Anne Bancroft.
: The film is well written. The plot is compelling and though it's not the most original type of ending, it's still satisfying. While the characters certainly help make the lines memorable, the dialogue itself is crisp and amusing. For once, the best lines in the film aren't the ones they show in the trailer.
: This is definitely the film to see if you're looking for a great comedy and you don't mind a bit of romance sprinkled on. It certainly beats a lot of the other crap that's been released lately.

: Directed by: David Mirkin
: Written by: Robert Dunn, Paul Guay, and Stephen Mazur
: Stars: Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sigourney Weaver, Ray Liotta, Gene Hackman, and Jason Lee.
: Running time: 122 minutes
: Rated: PG-13 (for sex-related content/dialogue)
