: Go to your local video store, rent EVERYTHING in the "classics" section, then the cult section, then the indie section, then the foreign section. Also do some research and rent a lot of the great horror movies over the years, and as for particular directors, Stanley Kubrick, Terrence Mallick, Martin Scorsese, Speilberg, Peter Weir, early John Carpenter, Dario Argento, Orson Welles, I could go on and on and on...
: My advice is to really watch anything and everything and try and get something out of it all, even the bad movies (if only by noticing what was done wrong and how it could be done better).

: : Vincent, I want to be a director. I know, how novel of me. Anyway, I was just wondering if their were any movies that you'd recommend watching: Independant or otherwise? As an aspiring director when I watch movies now I don't just see the movie, I notice the shots and other things that I use to not even care about. I'd like to learn alot and since you are already a director and have done a movie that I hear nothing but praises for (except Raoul but he's an idiot). I would just like some help. Your friend a hack, Nick.
