Kevin
I just finished photography on a 20 minute romantic comedic short on anxiety and feces. It is screamingly funny in a smart, stupid way.
My question to you is two fold.
1. How long did it take you to edit "Clerks", and how important do you feel it is to have an editor with a strong sense of the material? I have a very capable editor, but his comedic sensibility is numb. Is it that important if I'm dictating what I want in the editing suite?
2. Did you have any clue as to how you were going to sell your film prior to shooting? If you were me, and needed to add music to the movie (preferably well known music), would you try to secure rights first or would you wait until you caught the interest of a potential buyer? Keep in mind that there is no budget, so securing rights for appropriate music at this point is a wet dream. I was thinking about putting in what I want now, with the hope that a buyer would ante up for music rights.
I'd appreciate any input that you may have. "Clerks" remains a source of inspiration for all of us who are proactive enough to do this shit ourselves.
Thanks in advance,
TH
