: : Anyone know why Adam Yauch wouldn't sign off on Rump-Shaker to be used in DOGMA?
: I was just pondering the same question as I re-read some summaries earlier today. Why would he do that? He's kind of always been the "serious" Beastie. Living the alternative lifestyle, free-Tibet, no meat, etc. Maybe he always turns down requests to use their music. I don't know.
I just a thought regarding that:
Remember that Rump-Shaker would've acted as a bridge between Loki's self-righteous homicide and his cute, little victory-dance. Even though the auteur doesn't seem to endorse "smiting the wicked," we still have "movie moment" in which the audience is energized by a pretty actor fulfilling himself by blowing someone away.
That's everything Hornblower is against and he certainly can't be faulted
for not wanting his music to be party to that.
