the director was apparently just a fan of Clerks so he put the poster in the background and the VHS box of Clerks is also on-top of the VCR towards the end of the film.
As far as the Scream 3 cameo goes...the director thought it would be cool, or Harvey, I forget which, so they made it happen. You can read about that in the summaries though.
Don't know if the cameo will tie in with the Askewniverse, although I dont see why it wouldnt.

: Today i sat down and wathced Scream, and found out, that, in the video store sceen, you can see a Clerks poster. Now, if you take into acount that Jay and Silent Bob are in Scream 3, how dose this work? Maby my therey that JASBSB is a prequall that shows how Clerks was made has some wight now, but probubly not. Any sugestions?
