: If you people want to right a script then go to the bookstore and buy a book on it, quit trying to dry jerk. :::

I'm sure they have,if they are seriously interested.

Screenwriting (good screenwriting, that is) is an art form. ::

As are all things done to a high level.

I don't give a rat's ass how many scripts you've read online you've got to know a bit about character development, plot, timing, etc., etc. :::

Best practice for that, from what I have heard and read from writers, is to read alot.

And don't give me this, "But Kevin Smith did it" swill, because you know what, Smith still went to film school for a while,:::

And,ifin I remember correctly, Kevin said it was useless.

and I'd bet he did some research on it and didn't just sit down one day and say, "Hmmm, I think I'll write a script now." :::

I bet he did. Then he did the research, then he wrote it. It did not magicly jump from his brain to an Ibook.

Then he hooked up with Mosier, the main pimp behind the scenes. Don't underestimate the value of a producer. ::

Yes,because they get money and arrange things. Now what do they do about the writing? I'm sure Scott helps, but I think the average producer in Bollwood just has input like "add a fuck scene".

If nothing else at least buy one of those dummy books so you'll have some idea what you are talking about. "Gee, I think I'll go fly a plane today, even though I don't know how." :::

Writing and flying complex machinery have nothing in common. One is an expression of creativity, the other is a manual skill learned for a purpose. If you write like you drive a car, your writing will be as boring as Larry King's USAToday column.

I'm not trying to be a downer,::

Just a schmuck.

it's just that every film buff I know has a screenplay in the works and every journalist I know has a manuscript in the works.:::

And I'm sure you have a book written in your head about the travails of your friends who are trying to write screenplays or manuscripts.

BTW, I'd suggest Screenplay by Syd Field. It's kind of old as well as the movies he cover's, but great cinema never changes.::

So, I take it you have written a screenplay,or atleast been interested. Et tu,Bruti? Ya schmucky schmuck.

: I will now step off my soapbox and the various posters may now tear me a new one.::

You deserve a new one, both bloody and deep.
