I didn't know there was an on/off topic here. Just thought it was for admirers of the above average skills of Kevin Smith. Kevin's DVDs are nice, I own the Mallrats one and it's cool to sit there and listen to Kevin, Jason and Asslick for 90 minutes. I'm a sucker for edited scenes and "director's cuts" so the original opening of Mallrats is sweet. But damn, that footage absolutely sucks. When my ex girlfriend and I watched that footage for the first time the room was silent. The movie's real title should be "Kevin Smith does Superman II" because of all the mistakes in the film because of the reshoots. Like the scene where what's her name asks the questions. She looks completely different, kind of like Margot Kidder during her scenes under Richard Donner (where she looked young, sweet and tasty) versus her scenes from Richard Lester's Superman II (where she looked like an old crack whore). What a difference two years makes! As far as Mallrats, I think it's weak because of the male lead. Not the Banky dude, but the other guy. He's too white. Why does that hot girl like him anyway? The Banky dude is cool so I can see Doherty with him. It's always funny to see a half star (Asslick) before he became a half star, too. That's why Mallrats is so funny. All Asslick does is be himself - act like an ass. His line "Call Me Joey" is funny as hell though, you can tell he was getting off on that scene, pretending he was doing a 15 year old doggie-style. He was probably thinking about Matt Damon, though.

I respect your dislike of Dark Knight Returns, despite it's widely held reputation of being the best Batman tale. Ever. Also, it's not a bad time for you to get back into comics.
