I realize that I'm partially answering my own question here, but I
thought that this might be helpful to more folks than just me.
From what I can tell, the quicktime teaser doesn't have sound when
you open it with quicktime version 4 (or, I'd assume, anything below
that). Viewed on version 5 (available from
www.apple.com/quicktime), sound is indeed enabled.
